Clients Amanda and Duncan had spotted our Cubist chandelier in the lumière shop window but Amanda wanted my opinion on its suitability here.
These lovely clients wanted a wow factor light and I was conscious that it would need to offer enough light for the couple’s 4 young children to safely use the stairs in the dark evenings, during the winter months.
The Cubist with her numerous bulbs, and her sharp geometric angles against the linear panelled walls, really holds her own in this large entrance hall ; floating and performing beautifully on her stage. She strikes the perfect balance between function and design.
Rule number 1 in my world of lighting: you have to love it. We all work so hard every day that I strongly believe entrance lighting is one of the key elements in creating a happy home design scheme. We need to come home to something we are proud of and which makes our heart feel happy and our mind feel relaxed the moment we approach our property and walk through the door.
When Amanda and Duncan bought this house it had been chopped up into flats so this staircase into the “secret basement” is a new addition.
I am thrilled to now be working on the lighting in other parts of the house with Amanda which I am excited to share.
Love and light
